Participating in sports help people to stay active, make new friends, and have fun. Winning may not be everything, but there is indisputable excitement in winning an award. In addition to the conventional trophies won after a successful game, shield award (โล่รางวัล, which is the term in Thai) is also given at the end of the season to celebrate outstanding players and leaders. Here are some of the common sports category awards

Most Valuable Player

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) is a prestigious award assigned to an athlete who demonstrates all-around excellence and of outstanding talent and leadership skills. The MVP is usually the face of a team, one that represents the team in the community and at events.

Coach of the Year

Recognition does not go to players alone; coaches play a vital role in the team and are deserving of awards too. Coach of the Year award usually goes to the coach who goes above and beyond for their team.

 Team Spirit Award

This award is given to a player who inspires their teammates with high spirit. Pride in the team and a motivational character are all part of team spirit. The winner of this award wears the team colors every day and promotes the team’s excellence to the community as well as family and friends. Their faith in the team is unshakable.

Rookie of the Year

 Rookie of the Year award is usually designated in all sorts of leagues. This award often goes to an athlete who has exhibited remarkable talent and teamwork in their debut season. In NBA, for example, this award is considered a good omen and has been given to athletes such as Michael Jordan—who would later go on to become one of the best basketball players in history.
